if i fall, will you catch me?

the following is what's on my mind....

i guess the past year or so, my neighborhood, specifically the cul de sac i live on, has been the subject of numerous car burglaries. no cars are being stolen, but quite a few things have been taken. there's also been some odd behavior and occurrences that just make me wonder what happened to the neighborhood i grew up in and continue to live in. for the most part, i always felt safe where i lived. anything bad that happened, you could pretty much attribute to certain individuals and the pains of growing up. so yeah...the past year i've heard a few stories now and then but since i've been home i've been hearing more. my nieghbor having dinner with his girlfriend in his car only to be threatened and chased away by a bunch of teenagers in a white integra. they only stopped their pursuit when my neighbor found a sheriff station to drive around at. phil noticing someone staring into their house from a sidewalk across the street. so, of course, he tails him and calls my sister on her cell to give her updates. police show up, knows something's not right with him, but can't pick him up. as for the car robberies, only two families in the deep part of the cul de sac have not had anything taken from them. the last was my sister who awoke new years day to her jeep with all it's doors open and some portable dvd players taken. a few nights after that, my neighbor across the street (same family whose son got chased by the white integra) noticed their security lights go on and their pit bull barking up a storm. they open the front door and their dog immediately starts chasing a guy walking around. maybe he's just scared and naturally ran away. but our neighborhood is close knit and we know everyone there and what everyone's car looks like. that and when my neighbor ran in pursuit, the suspect ran to a car that backed up to pick him up and take off. yesterday? my next door neighbor noticed two men looking in between my parent's house and my sister's house. he went over to check them out and they started walking away. so he hopped in his car and followed them till they split up. one, they've been hitting up our neighborhood frequently sometimes multiple times a week. second, makes you wonder if them peeking between the house signals a move from car robberies to home invasions. that or phil and i are getting paranoid. we put up some motion sensor lights to deter them from our houses. he also jokingly suggested we wake up for nightly patrols at 3am which i seriously agreed to. phil vetoed the idea of me digging a 10 ft hole covered by leaves in hopes of catching one of them or *crosses fingers* both of them. liable. pffh. i suppose phil might also veto my idea of leaving a blonde, white boy at the house to make life hell for any possible intruders.

friday i have a meeting for a possible part time gig as a longshoreman. my supervisor knows about it and is cool with it. but i have the hardest time containing my smile when she kept throwing out seaman this, seaman that. you know what's funny? or weird. my dad works in the harbor. my mom's a nurse. me? could be in the harbor part time. girlfriend? she's a nurse. my dad has 5 years on my mom. me? i got 4 years on millicent. i really am my father's son.
