it's not a trick, it's an illusion

so i'm thinking about robotech. tobey maguire's production company is working a big screen robotech feature. apparently transformers did really well making a robotech feature easier to get greenlit. now when transformers got announced, i wasn't too annoyed by it. yeah...i liked transformers when i was a kid. i enjoyed the toys and the original series. i was also a bit sad when optimus died in the cartoon movie. now the big screen movie i have not watched. i didn't like the redesign of some of the characters but not enough to boycott it. i just didn't have a chance to watch it and i'll probably watch the dvd when it's out. that and i guess i just didn't have enough of an attachment to transformers. now robotech...i do have an attachment. i'd watch it every time it aired on tv. well...the macross saga. they would show all the episodes and then restart them. and i'd watch it each and everytime. it's probably second in my repeated viewings to the trilogy. i got a bit annoyed when ralph of kevin and bean was talking about how robotech came after transformers. to the US audience, yes. but on a global level, Macross (which robotech is based on) came out earlier. anyways...to the real reason of this writing. ign wrote this article on who'd they like to see in the movie. interesting casting suggestions. some of which i can definitely roll with. Jake Gyllanhaal as Max Sterling? i can see him pulling off the nerdy looking but bad ASS fighter pilot. just make sure he has glasses and blue hair. Nathan Fillion as Roy Focker? hellz yeah. i support him in any role. he he he...Seth Rogen as Ben Dixon is pretty cool. Amanda Byrnes as Lynn Minmei? if you americanize it...then yes? i would prefer they keep her asian though. like Kristin Kreuk if she could sing. but the suggestions i really don't like are Tobey Maguire, Keira Knightly, and Lellee Sobeski as Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes and Miriya respectively. Tobey Maguire...i just don't like for some reason. like i didn't like him as spiderman (though i thought the movies themselves were decent and good "summer movies") but i liked him in cider house rules. that or i liked charlize theron's ass. come to think of it, i've only seen him in four movies so i might be unreasonable about my bias. keira knightly...might be too young to be lisa hayes. like the thing about the rick-lisa-minmei love triangle was minmei was the younger, naive, and stupid girl. lisa was older, wiser so they were complete opposites. i think keira knightly could play a smart character, but she looks young. taht and i keep tripping out that she's 22 and seems like that's too young for someone that's been around as much as she has. finally Leelee Sobeski as Miriya? no. Miriya was hot, Leelee is not. they need someone that can be a bit terrifying yet hot. because Miriya was scary till Max Sterling put his hand on her chin and they started floating around the park. i don't know what that was supposed to mean but, in elementary school, i thought if a girl was trying to kill me, but was hot, all i had to do was put my hand under her chin and float around with her. then she'd be mine in no time.

and yes..i realize my title relates to macross and not robotech.
