singing "in the year 2000....."

Say you die. Your life flashes before your eyes before you see that light end of the tunnel. And then…WHAMMY…you find yourself before God. God says, since you’re dead, you’re allowed to witness any event in human history. Why this is so, I don’t know. Just work with me. So, what would you want to see? Here are my nominations in no particular order.

-My death and funeral. On a personal scale, this would be interesting to see. Like say you die or be so out of your mind that you can’t really remember (in the afterlife) how you die. The funeral…would be nice to know who would show up. Who’s actually crying or who’s the jerk that’s showing up to make sure you’re dead. I’m also curious how one would approach and deliver my eulogy.

-The Battle of Los Angeles. He he he. The reason I wanted to write this entry and what got me thinking. Muah ha ha ha ha. Basically in 1942 a large unidentified flying object or objects was/were spotted hovering above LA. How noticeable was it? Alarm sirens were going off as people were in fear that it was an attack by the Japanese. LA Times and other local newspaper reporters wrote that air planes were seen approaching it AND attacking it BUT were unsuccessful in bringing it down before it left. The attacks were so loud that the airplane motors could not be heard. US Officials claimed it was a Japanese blimp or something but Japan denied it attacked and no wreckage of any sort could be found. In death I would like to know what was being attacked.

-Roswell, New Mexico July, 1947. Might as well know what really crash landed. I’ll be quite disappointed if it was really a weather balloon.

-Bluff Creek, CA October 20, 1967. Bigfoot? Or, guy in a gorilla suit wearing football pads? My death would prove the validity or hoax of the Patterson-Gimlin footage.

-The life of Jesus Christ. Yup, all 30 plus years of it. It would be fascinating to watch: his birth, his death, and his rise from death. Say what you will about Dogma and the Da Vinci Code, but what really did happen between his birth and death? Aren’t you a little curious? And I’m feeling a little blasphemous for listing this after UFO and Bigfoot talk. Also, wondering if it’s blasphemous for wanting to see Jesus alive.

-The events that lead to the extinction of the dinosaurs. In fast forward. With music by John Williams. Perhaps Duel of the Fates.

-Battle of Thermopylea. Yeah…you like that, don’t you Tommy? I would like to see war up close. This is assuming I’ll be in corporeal form and figuring that I’ll be unfazed by the violence displayed as I’ll be dead already. This is not to glorify war. It’s just war today is different from war in the past. A lot more one on one action. Leaders actually fighting. And were the Spartans really that cut? The mind wonders….

I could go on and on about this but I’ll stop for now. Mostly because I’ve been slowly…very slowly…adding stuff to this for the past week or so. So I’ll just make a part two in the future. Yay-YAY!

I just asked this question driving home w/ the gang from Tahoe...it wasn't in the context of talking to God and him asking what moment in history I'd want to see, it was more, what point in history would you want to see most?

And mine was Jesus' life.
